Evil Zed – Make Up Your Mind

Something i made a couple weeks back. On an emotional future garage-step type tip. Enjoy and tell your friends!

Bonecold – Somnipath

I’ve been lazy with the blog this last week but im back now with this tasty piece of sound crack for you to smoke. 10 tracks of futuristic Burial inspired loveliness from UK artist Bonecold. It’s refreshing to hear that this guy hasn’t just ripped off Burial yet still manages to carry that emotion and texture that we love. Check out his Soundcloud for more tasty bits and get his album below.

Ifan Dafydd !

Dont really know much about this act except… i like. Ifan’s stuff is reminiscent of James Blake’s beats before he went all singer, songwriter, hipster on us but with a Mount Kimbie-ish twist on the percussion . Some even speculate it is Blake…..(he aint) . Check out his vinyl only release on boomkat.com.

The sound is spacious full of interesting textures and just really good to be fair.

Goth Trad’s Xfm mix for Mary

I think its time for some deep down dirty dubstep shiznit……

So, Japanese abstract dub man and all round nice guy, Goth Trad is going to drop a new EP called “Babylon Fall” on Mala’s legendary label Deep Medi . In celebration he did a mix on Queen Mary’s Xfm Show the other week. I’ve met thy guy a few times and hes always been very gracious and humble dude to speek to. if you get the chance i defiantly recommend going back and checking out his earlier work. He’s been realising (solo) since 2003 and has managed to stay crazy on top/ahead of his game ever since. Go do some research and see for your self. Here is a good place to start.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

New Jamie XX mix for FACT

Got a lot of respect for the guy who plays the MPC for the XX. His debut release was the inspired Gill Scot-Herron remix/collaboration  album “We’re New Here” . Wich if you ask me is a pretty sick move as a first release!

Heres a mix he did to FACT wich is also pretty good listen and download using the link below

This guy Blacksmif is a real bad man

Is not often i find a producer that i cant fault in any way so when i heard this dudes music i was shocked at his consistant ability to have me in full ‘vibes mode’ from beginning to end. The production value in his style of 2steppy futuristic garage grimestep is remarkable. He has some of the best drum work i’ve heard to date. To top that he seemingly has an endless supply of work that has not been picked up by any label. I checked out his soundcloud and killed a good hour listening to his beats.

Heres a bit from his bio: “Eclectic electronica producer – ‘Blacksmif’ is the moniker of London-based-and-bred Yemi Olagbaiye. The strength of Blacksmif, much as his name suggests, lies in his ability to carefully forge and meld a host of genres, melodies and instruments into one signature sonic formula. Manipulated samples at the heart of his tracks resonate over crackling vinyl effects and combine with synthesised hooks. If he carries on coming up with this kind of atmospheric, spine-tingling produce, he’s bound to attract widespread attention soon…”

This track is possibly my favourite.  Taken from “And The Sun Rose Out” EP
[Synchronicity Records]

Evil Zed – Bastard Child mix

a mix i did back in april

Why you should always wear a condom

So, I was just messing around in the studio when I accidently pressed record half way through a mix. Now I’m left with a small mix I didn’t plan and huge responsibilities…. Life ey… one second you just fooling around and the next thing you know you have a kid/mix who by definition is a bastard. So help my mix be less bastardly, give it a home in your iPod.

Jokers top of the game no ones passing it

Joker has put out a video for his new grime track ‘Back in the Days’ this got me thinking… I’ve been following this guy for ages now and i have huge respect for anyone that can come into music at a young age and carve out their own signature sound like this guy. He also very quickly became remix royalty, not to mention the guy is a very solid DJ. (download his sonar09 mix here)

find him on myspace and twitter
